Current closed beta notice
The official WARDOGS Steam Community Hub currently announces a closed beta scheduled for August 21–23, 2026. The same announcement says pre-order access is guaranteed for that closed beta. This page records the notice as it stands on August 14, 2026. Dates, eligibility, and event rules can change, so open the live announcement before making a purchase or planning a session.
The term “closed beta” matters. It identifies a specific event and does not automatically mean an open demo, a permanent test branch, or Early Access. Steam can show more than one WARDOGS entry or access route during development. Confirm that the store page and the announcement refer to base game AppID 1867240 before assuming the entitlement applies to you.
Pre-order and guaranteed access
The current announcement’s pre-order statement should be read narrowly: it guarantees access to the announced closed beta, subject to the conditions stated by the official post. It does not promise a place in every future Playtest, access to an earlier alpha, or unchanged access rules after the event. A player who pre-orders should still check the Steam library, event timing, and any instructions delivered by the developer.
Do not use a third-party countdown as the authority. If the Steam post displays a new window, use that current date. If a store transaction uses different regional or edition language, verify the exact product scope before concluding that a particular purchase grants the beta.
Separate Steam Playtest route
The Community Hub also mentions a random Steam Playtest opportunity. That is separate from the announced closed beta. A random Playtest selection can have a different invitation method, build, time window, and confidentiality rule. Pre-order access to one event must not be described as guaranteed access to the other.
If Steam offers a Playtest request or invitation, read the notice attached to that specific event. Keep the invitation route with your notes. A player who was selected randomly, a player who received closed beta access, and a player who only owns the store page may see different options in the same week.
Recording and sharing boundaries
The Hub distinguishes public communication about earlier testing from rules that remain attached to ETP Playtests. Do not infer permission to record or publish from a screenshot, a creator upload, or a friend’s invitation. Read the current official notice for the event you entered. If it says footage is restricted, follow that restriction even if a different test allows clips.
When sharing a permitted observation, name the event and date. “WARDOGS in the August closed beta” is more precise than “the WARDOGS build.” This keeps a test-specific control, vehicle, economy, or map observation from being mistaken for the planned Early Access version.
What happens after the beta
The official Steam store currently lists WARDOGS as coming soon with Early Access planned for September 10, 2026. A closed beta observation is therefore preparation, not a final product guarantee. Re-check the store page and Community Hub after the event. The game’s advertised features include a 100-player, three-team Control Zone mode, cash, equipment, vehicles, building, destruction, and proximity voice, but the exact values may be revised.
Use the official WARDOGS Steam page for product identity and the official Community Hub for access announcements. If either source changes, update the date and scope before repeating this guide to another player.
Access checklist
- Confirm the AppID and the exact official WARDOGS page.
- Read the current closed beta announcement, not an old repost.
- Separate pre-order access from random Steam Playtest selection.
- Check any event-specific recording or NDA instruction.
- Label observations with the event name and date.
- Re-check the store and Hub after the beta ends.
